Kids Adventure Weekend Explores Outdoor Skills at Woodlands Nature Station

(Land Between the Lakes, Ky) – The Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area will host Kids Adventure Weekend at the Woodlands Nature Station during Labor Day weekend, August 30 – September 1. “This weekend is all about introducing kids to essential outdoor skills through fun activities and programs,” says naturalist Jordan Tandy, “Our hope is that these activities will help your children to be more confident in the outdoors.”

Visitors can attend programs on topics like knot-tying, how to use a compass, foraging, campfire cooking, and more. A full schedule of activities can be seen on the Land Between the Lakes website here.

The Woodlands Nature Station will also offer guided sunset kayak trips on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1, from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. With experienced naturalists, kayak trip participants will explore the nooks and crannies of a Barkley Lake bay and search for wildlife like beavers, osprey, and eagles.
