(OWENSBORO, Ky.) – The Marshall County Lady Marshals overcame sweltering heat and a determined South Warren squad to secure a commanding 4-0 victory in their second match of Saturday’s DC Classic.

After a scoreless first half that saw both teams struggle to break through in the oppressive heat, the Lady Marshals exploded for four unanswered goals in the second 40 minutes to put the match away decisively.

The breakthrough came early in the second half when Rylee Teague delivered a perfect pass to Addison Peterson, who converted to give Marshall County a 1-0 advantage. The assist marked another productive outing for Teague, who has been a consistent playmaker for the Lady Marshals.

Peterson quickly shifted from scorer to setup artist, providing the assist on Maeci Moryl’s goal that extended the lead to 2-0. The strike was particularly meaningful for Moryl, marking her first varsity career goal in a memorable performance.

The Lady Marshals continued to pour on the pressure as Addi Wall blasted a shot past South Warren goalkeeper Katelyn Kincaid, with Hadley Bynum credited with the assist on the goal that pushed Marshall County’s advantage to 3-0. Teague capped the scoring with her second goal of the match, this time converting off a throw-in to seal the 4-0 victory.

The defensive effort was equally impressive, with goalkeeper Savannah Dodd recording a clean sheet by turning away every South Warren attempt on goal. Dodd’s shutout performance anchored a solid team defensive display that limited the Lady Spartans’ scoring opportunities throughout the match.

The victory, combined with their earlier draw in the tournament, improved the Lady Marshals’ record to 2-0-1 on the young season. The team has shown balanced offensive production with multiple goal scorers and consistent defensive play through their first three matches.

Marshall County will return to action Thursday evening when they host Calloway County in a doubleheader at the Colburn Soccer Complex. The girls’ varsity match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys’ contest in what promises to be an exciting night of soccer for local fans.
