(PADUCAH, Ky.) – Sweltering conditions have returned to western Kentucky and are expected to persist through Tuesday, bringing oppressive heat and high humidity to the region, according to the National Weather Service-Paducah.
Residents should prepare for scorching daily temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 90s. When combined with the stifling humidity, the heat index – what the temperature actually feels like – will soar between 100 and 105 degrees each afternoon.
Relief is on the horizon as a cold front approaches midweek. The weather system will sweep through Wednesday, breaking the heat wave and ushering in more comfortable conditions. Temperatures will drop back to seasonal averages, accompanied by the possibility of showers and thunderstorms that could provide additional cooling.
