(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) – The community is welcoming students back to school with an exciting twist on the beloved Food Truck Friday tradition. Calvert City’s Back to School Splash transforms the popular weekly event into a special evening celebration honoring the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Families across the region are invited to join the festivities this Friday, August 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Calvert City Memorial Park on 1072 5th Avenue. The free event promises to blend education excitement with summer fun as the community rallies around its students.

Evening of Family Fun Awaits

Memorial Park will come alive with activities designed to appeal to every family member. Young attendees can bounce their way through inflatable attractions while cooling off at the park’s splash fountain – a perfect combination for an August evening. Live musical performances will provide the soundtrack for the celebration, creating an atmosphere of anticipation for the academic year ahead.

Dinner won’t be forgotten, as local food trucks will line the park, offering everything from hearty meals to sweet treats. The evening reaches its peak with a foam party finale and exciting prize giveaways, including Amazon and Walmart gift cards courtesy of generous local business sponsors.

Building Educational Community

“As we celebrate the start of a new school year, I want to wish every student, teacher, and family a safe and successful year ahead,” said Mayor Gene Colburn. “The Back to School Splash is our way of bringing the community together in support of education, connection, and fun. Let’s encourage our students to stay motivated, be kind, and give their best this school year.”

The mayor’s words reflect the event’s deeper purpose beyond entertainment – fostering a sense of shared investment in the community’s educational success.

Local organizations and businesses interested in connecting with families are encouraged to participate through informational booths, available at no charge. Booth reservations can be made by contacting the city at info@calvertcityky.gov.

Community Partnership Makes It Possible

The celebration is brought to the community through the collaborative support of the Calvert Area Development Association, 50’s Cafe, and Hilary Washer State Farm, whose sponsorship ensures the event remains free for all attendees.

This partnership exemplifies how local businesses and organizations can work together to strengthen community ties while supporting education.

The Back to School Splash welcomes all community members to join in launching the new academic year with enthusiasm and unity. Additional information about this event and other Calvert City activities is available through the city offices.
