(MELBOURNE, AU) — Murray State basketball alumna Katelyn Young continues her impressive 2025 campaign, capturing her inaugural postseason victory as a professional athlete on Saturday.
The former Racer star helped propel Knox to a narrow 65-62 triumph over Dandenong in the Australian Women’s National Basketball League quarterfinals. Young contributed a crucial three-pointer during her five-minute stint on the court, providing valuable scoring punch in the tightly contested playoff matchup.
Knox signed the five-time all-conference first-team honoree shortly after her May graduation from Murray State, where she spearheaded the Racers’ Missouri Valley Conference championship run and subsequent NCAA Tournament appearance in March.
The Raiders’ victory avenged an earlier 12-point regular season defeat to the Rangers, who finished 16-6 and claimed second place in the WNBL’s South Division, just one game behind Knox’s league-leading 19-3 record. Young also grabbed one rebound in Saturday’s win.
Since joining the Raiders, Kate The Great has been part of a perfect 11-0 run for Knox, as she wasn’t on the roster during the team’s regular season loss to Dandenong.
Young has established herself as a key contributor. Over the final weeks of league play, she averaged approximately 21.5 minutes per game and reached double-digit scoring on three occasions, including an 18-point effort in Knox’s season-ending rout of Ballarat.
The victory advances Knox deeper into the WNBL playoffs as Young seeks to add more professional hardware to her already decorated basketball career.
