KSP Takes to the Skies in National Cruiser Contest

Gov. Beshear encourages Kentuckians to vote for unique photo featuring cruisers and helicopter

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) –Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police (KSP) encourage Kentuckians to help them win a competition that showcases state law enforcement agencies across the country as a thank you to the agency’s service.

KSP has entered the 2025 Best Looking Cruiser Contest, held annually by the American Association of State Troopers (AAST). The contest asks the public to vote on their favorite cruiser photo, with the winning image earning the cover of the association’s 2026 calendar.

“The Kentucky State Police are among the best of Kentucky’s public servants, and supporting the agency in this contest is just one way we can say thank you,” Gov. Beshear said. “I’ll be casting my vote for our state police in this contest, and I encourage all Kentuckians to join me so the agency can bring back home a win.”

This year’s KSP submission captures more than just horsepower; it captures air power. The photo features a 2024 Mustang GT cruiser, a 2024 Dodge Durango pursuit vehicle, alongside a Bell 407 helicopter from the agency’s Aircraft Support Branch. The photo symbolizes the teamwork and tactical support that keep Kentucky safe from ground to sky.

“This contest is a great opportunity to highlight the professionalism our troopers and pilots bring to the job every day,” KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. said. “We’re proud to represent Kentucky, and we’re hoping everyone joins us in casting their vote.”

KSP has placed in the top five in the past seven years, taking home back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022. While Florida won the competition last year, Kentucky hopes to soar to first place once again.

To accomplish this, Kentucky needs the help of the 4.5 million Kentuckians who call the commonwealth home. Voting starts today and ends Friday, July 11, at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Kentuckians can vote once daily by clicking here.

Throughout the contest, KSP will spotlight the cruiser and helicopter featured in the photo, showcase behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot, and share exclusive content on the agency’s social media pages. Follow the agency on FacebookInstagram, and X for campaign updates, videos and contest standings.

The Beshear-Coleman administration is committed to making Kentucky a national leader in public safety by increasing access to addiction resources, improving second chance opportunities, providing support and enhanced training to law enforcement officers and boosting the economy.
