Marshall County and Calloway County needed extra innings to settle their first 4th District matchup of the season on Tuesday. Tied 6-6 after seven, the Lakers pulled out a 7-6 win, scoring the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the ninth.
The Marshals out hit the Lakers 12-6. Ayden Clevidence led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Matthew Henderson also delivered at the plate with two hits, including a clutch solo home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh and tie the game.
Calloway put a run up in the top of the first when leadoff hitter Nick Cantrell walked then scored on a passed ball. The Marshals answered in the second, tying the game when Clayton Wyatt singled and scored on a two-out RBI single by Clevidence.
Clevidence came through again in the fourth, driving in the go-ahead run and later scoring on an error to give the Marshals a 3-1 lead.

A leadoff single by Zachary Akin followed by two walks loaded up the bases for the Lakers in the sixth. Five runs followed, coming in on a two-run double by Conner Lockhart, RBI single from Iziah Cruz and two-run double by Jackson Ames to take a 6-3 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Marshals battled back. Singles from Thomas Bagby and Maddox Cope set the stage for another big hit from Clevidence, who doubled in both runners to cut the lead to one.
Henderson’s solo shot in the seventh tied the game at six, but the Marshals missed opportunities to walk it off—stranding runners at second and third in the seventh and leaving the bases loaded in the eighth.
In the ninth, the Lakers seized their chance, pushing the winning run across on an error to claim the 7-6 victory.
The Marshals season record drops to 9-5 while the Lakers improve to 8-6. The two teams will face off again on Thursday in Murray.
