State champion, school records fall at KHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships

Marshall County track and field teams competed in the Class 3A KHSAA Indoor Track and Field State Championships on Thursday and came away with some impressive results. The meet was held in Louisville at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.

Deegan Croley is a State Champion! Croley won the shot put event with a throw of 54-09, outdistancing second place by five feet.

The 4 x 200 relay team finished in the bronze medal position, taking third with a time of 1:30.99 and setting a new indoor school record in the event. Members of the relay team are Sam Morgan, Isaac Hodges, Isaac Reynolds and Cade Sorrells.

Hayden Gray finished fourth in the long jump with 21-01.50 and the 4 x 400 relay team also placed fourth with a time of 3:28.99. Relay team members are Owen Futrell, Isaac Reynolds, Cade Sorrells and Isaac Hodges.

Another school record fell in the 55 meters. Sam Morgan set the new mark with a time of 6.67 and placed 13th. Morgan finished 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 22.86.

John Foley placed 15th in the 55 meter hurdles (8.63), the 4 x 800 meter relay team finished 16 (8:47.94), Jett Jones placed 21st in long jump (18-00.50) and Owen Futrell finished 23rd in the 800 meters (2:07.56).

The Marshals finished sixth overall at the state meet. St. Xavier took first, Trinity second and Male third in team standings.

Addison Lyles finished third in the state in the 3200 meters, setting another school record in the event with a time of 11:18.11.

Mia McGregor placed 17 in the long jump (14-08.75) and 18th in the triple jump (31-05.75). The 4 x 400 relay team finished 20th (4:35.25) and Lily Hayes finished 21st in shot put (25-03.75).
