
Marshall County’s Lady Marshals defeated Fulton County 69-38 in their opening round game of the Mercy Health Region 1 Tournament on Monday on the court at Murray State University. With the win, they advance to the semifinals, where they will face McCracken County on Friday at 6:00. The Lady Mustangs secured their spot by defeating Mayfield 34-24 in their first-round matchup.
The Lady Marshals will be looking to get past the Lady Mustangs in the Region 1 Tournament for the first time in three years. Two of the last three seasons, McCracken County has knocked the Lady Marshals out in the first round and in 2023, beat them in the championship game.
Skylar Waller led the charge with 23 points, earning Player of the Game honors, while Kenzlee Terry contributed 16 points. Waller drained five three-pointers, and Terry added four, combining for nine of the team’s 13 total from beyond the arc.

Kenzlee Terry wasted no time making an impact, knocking down two early three-pointers to give the Lady Marshals an 8-2 lead. However, Fulton County’s JaMesha Brown and Hannah Murphy responded, cutting the deficit to just two points and forcing a Marshall County timeout.
Out of the break, the Lady Marshals took control, outscoring the Lady Pilots 15-6 behind eight points from Skylar Waller to close the first quarter with a 23-12 advantage.
Waller opened the second quarter with her third three-pointer of the night, followed by Terry’s third, extending the lead to 15 points. Fulton County battled back with a 6-0 run, trimming the gap to single digits, but Terry ended the half on a high note, draining her fourth three-pointer to send the Lady Marshals into the locker room with a 36-25 lead.
Terry led all scorers in the first half with 16 points, while Brown paced Fulton County with 12.
A 3-pointer by Waller to open the second half set the tone for the Lady Marshals They added four more from beyond the arc—two more from Waller and one each from Rylee Teague and Laken Schroader—stretching the lead to 26 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Five different players combined for 12 points in the fourth to secure the 31-point win and punch their ticket to Friday’s semifinals.
