Teddy Ruth (Ball) Day, born May 9, 1935 in Burdine, KY died January 9, 2025 at Dover Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Georgetown, KY.
Teddy graduated from Jenkins High School, Jenkins, KY and Bowling Green Business University-Commercial in 1954.
She was blessed to make a living and help people by working in administrative positions at HNTB Engineering, Good Samaritan Foundation, High Street YMCA and for Woodrow Dawahare, Caywood Ledford and John Gaines of Gainesway Farm.
Teddy enjoyed cooking and decorating her home. She was a wonderful mother. Teddy was kind and helpful to her coworkers and her neighbors. She was one of the eldest residents at Lakeshore Village, since 1978.
Teddy’s family is very appreciative of special caregivers who attended to Teddy during her extended illness, including Jody Emmitt who also ministered to her.
Teddy Ruth dearly loved her immediate and extended family. She is survived by a devoted, wonderful son, Richard Martin Day Jr., who loved Teddy and cared for her as much or more than she loved and cared for Richard. She is grateful for her daughter-in-law Amy. Grandchildren are recent blessings that have brought so much joy into her life. Richard Martin Day III (Tripp) is a handsome young man who loves exploring the outdoors and organizing his toys. Granddaughter Piper, Teddy has said “has the best personality” who calls her “Grandma Teddy.” Richard and family reside in Paris, KY.
“Sis” is survived by brothers Richard Douglas Tucker (Donna) Inman, SC; Gary Michael Tucker (Catherine) Kingsport, TN; and Robert (Bob) Carson Tucker, Jr. (Lisa) Jenkins, KY. Teddy’s former husband, Richard Martin Day, Naples, FL.
Teddy’s nephews and nieces adored “Aunt Teddy.”
Teddy Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Theodore R. Ball, Princeton, WVA, mother, Lucille (Bellomy) (Ball) Tucker and stepfather Robert (Bob) Carson Tucker, Jenkins, KY.; beloved grandparents Dwight Avery Bellomy and Winnie Plummer Bellomy, Jenkins, KY.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
