Robert Eugene “Jack” Hightower passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025 at Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House. Jack was born on July 18, 1939 in Sidney, Arkansas, to Freddy and Edna Mynatt Hightower.
Growing up, Jack was always full of life and personality. He loved playing basketball and learned to work hard from a young age. At 17 he left Arkansas for Wichita Kansas to work with his uncle at Boeing. It was there he fell in love and married Janette Reese. They moved to Plains Kansas and spent their time together farming. Janette passed away at the age of 39.
Jack later met Marjorie Pearce Bierman. They married in 1979 and were later sealed in the LDS temple. They made a life in Kismet Kansas. He became a supportive and loving father to her seven children, Sid, Tim, Lisa, Brenda, Bill, Bonnie, and Beverly.
Jack and Marjorie were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack served in many teaching and administrative callings and enjoyed serving in the Denver Colorado Temple. He loved having the missionaries in his home and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jack and Marjorie retired outside of Murray, Kentucky until Marjorie passed away in 2017.
Jack was blessed to reconnect with his high school sweetheart Verbal Sipe Kimbrough. They spent the final years of his life together.
Jack will be remembered for his patience and dedication to work, family, and his faith. He loved the simple things in life; a beautiful sunset, gathering around a crackling fire, a cold Pepsi and Lays potato chips.
He found joy in farming, pheasant hunting with his boys, and growing a beautiful garden.
Jack was blessed with a quick wit. His gift was making people smile. He was a hard worker, the first to help his fellow man, and would sacrifice anything for those he loved.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, wives, siblings Jimmy and Bill Hightower, Alene Hightower Garner and Nadeen Hightower Holloway, and son, Tim Bogue.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Verbal Sipe Kimbrough, his children, Sid Bogue, Lisa Hamilton, Brenda Hoopes, Bill Bierman, Bonnie McQueen, and Beverly Astin, and 25 Grandchildren. His brothers, Jerry Hightower and Roy Mynatt and sisters, Maxine Hightower Holdge and Francene Hightower Peterson.
