Norma “Doris” Dowdy Smith, 90 of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital.
Doris was born in Marshall County on November 21, 1934 to the late John Darnall and Marie Edwards Darnall. Before retiring, she worked as a nurse. Doris enjoyed crocheting and was a faithful member of Hardin Church of Christ.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Dowdy (Bonita) of Benton and Gary Dowdy of Hardin; two step-sons, David Smith (Vicky) and Nicky Smith (Debbie) all of Benton; one step-daughter, Elizabeth Schroader of Bells, TN; five grandchildren, Derek Dowdy (Joyce), Logan Dowdy (Megan), Deeann Carter, Jesse Carter, Leslie Holeman (Frank); and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Dowdy; second husband, Nick Smith; daughter, Gail Carter; and step-daughter, Isabell Burton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home with David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Dowdy Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
