
Chuck was a kind, gentle and dedicated man. He loved his family and his community. He was a faithful attendee of the Seven Oaks Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a graduate of the University of Akron, and a retired 40+ year employee of Continental/General Tire as an accountant. Having started his career in the Akron, OH plant and transferring to the Bryan, OH facility and then later to GTNA’s Mt. Vernon facility and finally retiring from the Mayfield, KY plant. He was a past-president of Mayfield Kiwanis Club, a many-year volunteer at Mayfield Elementary School and a member of the board at the Mayfield/Graves County Senior Citizen Center at which he also volunteered.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shelia Miller Simmons, two daughters, Diana Elrod of Kevil, KY and Mandy (Jason) Youngblood of Murray, KY, two sons David (Teresa) Simmons of Bell Buckle, TN and Adam (Sarah) Simmons of Brentwood, TN; ten grandchildren, Madisen Elrod, Kristen Youngblood, Thomas Simmons, Isaac (Sydney) Elrod, Zeke Elrod, Cameron Youngblood, Kyla Elrod, Elin Simmons, Bennett Simmons, Miller Simmons. Also surviving are one sister Rebecca Lytle and one brother Bob Simmons both of Tallmadge, OH and one brother-in-law Mike Miller of Louisville, KY. Three nieces, Lisa Simmons, Kim Holtzapple, Marti Griffith and three nephews Rob Simmons, Kevin Simmons, and Matthew Simmons.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Ronald and Rose Simmons, a sister Sylvia Jean Simmons, a sister-in-law Donna Simmons and his parents-in-law Billy and Jewel Miller.
Graveside services for Chuck Simmons will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Farmington Cemetery in Farmington, KY. Tyler Alverson will officiate. VIsitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Byrn Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews.
