She was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of Merit Clothing Company.
Mrs. Cates is survived by three stepsons, Jerry (Carol) Cates of Cuba, KY, Jimmy “Ketter” (Deborah) Cates of Lynnville, KY and George “Junior” (Judy) Cates of Cuba, KY; one stepdaughter, Beverly Cates Jolley of Emmett, MI; five grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lewis Cates, Sr.; three sisters, Nancy Cole, Georgia Nell Johnson and Ruby Mae Pussic; three brothers, Bill Joe Reed, Walter B. Reed and Clarence C. Reed; two grandsons, Chris Cates and Greg Jolley; and her parents, Marion and Etta Ray Reed.
Graveside services for Mrs. Margaret Reed Cates will be 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Cuba Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Vinnie Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow.
There is no visitation scheduled. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
