David F. Burger, born on July 10, 1951, in Benton, Missouri, to the late Harold Joseph and Louise Scherer Burger, passed away on October 13, 2024, in Paducah, Kentucky at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.

David was revered as a masterful chief engineer at West Kentucky Navigation, where he dedicated his career to pioneering innovative designs and inspiring his colleagues. David’s passion for technology was evident in his love for radio-controlled helicopters and drones. A true enthusiast, he spent countless hours soaring these crafts through the sky, much to the amazement and delight of friends and family. An avid lover of the outdoors, he was happiest breathing in the fresh air and exploring the wonders of the natural world. His legacy as a talented engineer and a man with a zest for life’s joys will forever be cherished and remembered.

David is survived by two daughters, Amy Burger-Masters of Delta, Missouri, and Jennifer Burger of Morley, Missouri; four step-daughters, Deborah Lee of Paducah, Renita (Rickey) McIntyre of Ledbetter, Cheryl (Steve) Stogsdill of Ledbetter, and Patricia (Harold) Driskill of Ledbetter; a step-son, Ricky (Kay) Lindsey of Ledbetter; two sisters, Mary (Larry) Coram of Oran, Missouri, and Mary (Kenneth) Coomer of Delta, Missouri; two brothers, Paul (Patsy) Burger of Benton, Missouri, and Bobby (Julie) Burger of Benton, Missouri; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Lena Fagan Newcomb; a sister, Rosie; two brothers, Lionel and Richard; and his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
