Gloria Metzger, 88, of Hardin, Kentucky, passed away on October 5, 2024, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Gloria was born in Alton, Illinois, on May 13, 1936, to the late Rudolph Puetz and Maggie Melton Puetz. She was of the Catholic faith, but after moving to Kentucky, she had most recently been attending church at Northside Baptist Church in Almo. Gloria worked as a registered nurse for Alton Memorial Hospital for 42 years, where her kind and caring personality blessed the many patients she served. Gloria was passionate about being on the lake; she was a talented water skier and had competed in multiple skiing events throughout her life. In addition to skiing, she could spend an entire day on the lake just relaxing and fishing. Gloria was also a fantastic cook and loved to host dinners and have friends over to eat.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Metzger; two daughters, Lori Ambler of Geneva, Illinois, and Linda Baugh of Idaho; one son, Danny Guthrie of Batavia, Illinois; six grandchildren, Allie, Austin, Timothy, Sam, Wesley, and Cassie; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Puetz and Maggie Melton Puetz.
