
Andrew Jones Long, Jr., 69, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Andrew was born on April 18, 1955, in Knoxville, Tennessee to Andrew Long, Sr. and Mattie Hatcher Long. He graduated from Fisk University in Nashville with his bachelor’s degree in business which laid the foundation for a successful career in telecommunications. Beyond his professional endeavors, Andrew’s true passion was in his service to the Lord and his church. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and head of the security team. He also served as a leader for the Discovering Dreams Special Needs Ministry, where he guided with compassion and was always striving to uplift and support those in need. Andrew’s dedication to his church was unwavering, no matter the task at hand. He found joy in the giving of himself, whether it was through his time or his talents. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and he inspired those around him to live with purpose and grace.
Those who knew Andrew best would describe him as faith-filled, loving, and thoughtful. He was a devoted husband and father, whose family was the cornerstone of his life. His love for them was evident in every action, every decision, and every word. Andrew’s presence was a source of comfort and stability, and his guidance was sought after by many.
He is survived by his wife of almost 11 years, Lesa Emerson Long; his three daughters, Ariel Long of Gulf Port, Florida, Arianna Long of Benton, Kentucky, and Karen Queen (Cory) of Brookport, Illinois; his seven sons, Trey Long of Memphis, Tennessee, Greg Smith of Nashville, Tennessee, Justin Burkeen of Mayfield, Kentucky, Edward Burkeen of Benton, Kentucky, John Stopka (Phoebe) of Benton, Kentucky, Emillio Burkeen of Benton, Kentucky, and Dustin Burkeen (Lindsay) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; and his six grandchildren, Allie Burkeen, Maddie Burkeen, Reece Stopka, Novalee Stopka, Ariah Stopka, and Theodore Queen.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Stephen Long, and Robert Long; and his parents, Andrew Long, Sr. and Mattie Hatcher Long.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann with Bro. Alan Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Fooks Cemetery.
