Margaret Louise Coyne entered into Heaven on Friday, August 23rd, 2024 at the age of 104. She was born to the late Rollie H. and Beulah W. Johnston. Beloved wife of the late Joe A. Harper and the late James J. Coyne, Jr., cherished mother of Judy (the late William) Caraker and Brenda (Tim) Finley, loving granny of Darren (Mary) Ebmeyer, Karen Kleoppel, Matthew Ebmeyer, Melissa Finley, and Aaron (Jamie) Finley, dear great-granny of Adam Kleoppel, Travis (Nicole) Kleoppel, Lance (Jake) Kleoppel-Hermreck, Mallory (Katie) Kleoppel, Katie (Aaron) Potter, Nicholas Ebmeyer, and the late William Ebmeyer, Molly Finley and Carter Finley, loving great-great granny of Gabrielle Kleoppel, Aurora Potter, Emma Potter, Lucas Kleoppel, and Harper Kleoppel, dear sister of the late Harrison Johnston, the late Henry Johnston, the late Gene Johnston, and the late J.P. Johnston. She was a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Louise lived a simple and wonderful life influenced by her humble upbringing and large, loving family. She was a wonderful gardener, fisherman, occasional gambler, storyteller and country cook. Known for her fabulous Thanksgiving spread of cornbread dressing, homestyle green beans, giblet gravy, whipped sweet potatoes and homemade pumpkin pie, we saved extra room before heading to Granny’s. Her sense of humor, turn of phrase and Southern metaphors were legendary. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues and a good bingo game. She played her first game of Black Jack at 104 and loved it. She was a woman of faith and had known both love and grief, but found joy in the simplest things of life; a hummingbird outside her window, a beautiful homegrown tomato or pepper, or the sweet voice of a great, great grandchild. When the time came, she was ready to move on to her true home with her Heavenly Father and those dear to her who have gone before. We will miss her so much.
