Mr. Dennis Dale Scott, 71 of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Tennova Healthcare, Clarksville, TN.
He was born February 3, 1953, to the late Fayette and Marie Smith Scott.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Priscilla “Susie” Vobroucek and Redia Leibee, a brother, Woodford “Woody” Scott; and nephews, Dwayne James and Gregory Vobroucek.
Dennis is survived by sisters, Ruth James, of Murray, and Arleanus “Nini” Lott, of Oklahoma. Dennis was the baby of the family but he always looked out for his older siblings.
He was a proud “Uncle Denny” to nephews, Brian James, Benton, Don Leibee, Owensboro, Bruno DePasquale, Louisville, and Anthony Scott, Ohio; nieces, Lisa Howe, Owensboro, Ann Clack, Oklahoma, and Melissa Torres, Illinois. He also had several great and great-great nieces and nephews including local great nephew Michael James and wife Alesha of Murray. Dennis was also blessed to have a dear life-long family friend, Wilma Woods, who was great comfort to him in his final days.
Dennis was born in Williamson, W.VA. He loved family history and his family and still provided for the maintenance of the family cemetery in Canada, Kentucky. He was a devoted son to his mother and was well-known for taking her a daily donut when he got off the night shift. Dennis moved to Chicago and worked for several years before settling in Murray. Here he worked at Mattel, Inc. and then retired from Briggs and Stratton in 2020.
Dennis could be sarcastic and stubborn, but above all, he was thoughtful, funny, and caring. He was special to many people and will be missed and remembered.
A time of celebrating Dennis life will be held at later date.
