Lady Marshals pick up first district win over Mayfield

The Lady Marshals have not lost to Mayfield in almost 30 years and in the last 13 seasons, all the games have ended in shutouts. Thursday at Colburn Field, the Lady Marshals defeated the Lady Cardinals 7-0 to improve to 2-0.

Junior Addi Wall put the first goal of the night in the net at the 25-minute mark followed by a goal on a penalty kick three minutes later by senior Macy Scott. Briley Cathey scored the next two goals, followed up by a goal from Addison Peterson. The last two were knocked in the net by Chaney Green. Goalkeeper Savannah Dodd picked up her second shutout.

With lightening moving into the area, the game was concluded at halftime.

The Lady Marshals will play two games on Saturday at Deer Park Elementary Field in Owensboro. Starting at 9:30 the JV will play Boyle County followed by the varsity game. Later that day, the JV and varsity will play South Warren at 4:30 and 6:00.
