On July 11,2024, Mrs. Patricia Lee Hargrove Taylor entered into the eternal home of the Lord and savior she so faithfully served through her life.
Mrs. Taylor was a 1952 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School and earned an associate’s degree at Paducah Junior College, as well as attending Draughn’s Business college later in life. She was at one point also a certified substitute teacher. Mrs. Taylor was employed at Wilson’s bookstore in her youth, and it was there that she would meet the love of her life, James H. Taylor. They were married in 1954 and together they raised three children here in Paducah. She was a devoted wife and mother for 16 years; at which time she rejoined the workforce at Sears and Roebuck Co. where she retired after 30 years of service.
She was never able to utilize her teaching certificate, which was a regret to her, but she never missed an opportunity to enlighten with her knowledge, which was evident, not only in her published book Rivergees about the 1937 Paducah Flood, but also in her Facebook posts on various historical pages. She never believed, although told often, how much her wisdom touched people’s lives. Mrs. Taylor taught through her kindness, generosity, and example of Christianity. Whether you called her “Mom, “Mimi”, or “Ms. Pat”, once you met her, you loved her, and she returned that love tenfold. She spoke ill of no one and found good in everyone.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James H. Taylor, her parents H.B. and Louise Hargrove, and her only brother Paul L. Hargrove.
She is survived by her three children, James B. Taylor, Kathryn A. Coffelt (Nick), and Holly L. Nelson (Brad). Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
