Pickleball players went to Evansville, In. May 31-Jun 2 to participate in the Evansville Community Pickleball Association’s (ECPA) Grand Opening tournament. The brand new Wesselman Park facility features 16 outside courts with viewing on each court from covered awnings and stadium seating overlooking the primary court. Mother nature didn’t cooperate. Saturday’s events were rained out, but with 16 courts, they were able to move doubles play from Saturday to Sunday with the scheduled Mixed Doubles events.  Some players had to pull out of the tournament since they were not available to stay and play on Sunday.

With 184 entries, players from far Western Kentucky brought home 18 medals. Landon Wilson and Cory York went undefeated to win Gold in 4.0 Men’s Doubles, Kayla Travis and Kayla Yeh went undefeated to win Gold 4.5 Women’s Doubles and Marvin Travis and Cody Dalton went undefeated to win Gold Men’s 4.5 Men’s Doubles.
