Lenora Edna Duncan Brown, 103, of Paducah, passed away on May 26, 2024, at Providence Pointe Healthcare.

Lenora was born in Eddyville, Kentucky, on July 6th, 1920, to Samuel Thuston Duncan and Rosa Barbara Kuhn Duncan. Lenora experienced TVA’s flooding of her homeplace in the Land Between the Rivers, the Great Flood of 1937, and technological advances ranging from the moon landing to the smartphone in her lifetime. Known as “Nonie” to her family and friends, all would acknowledge that she emulated the power of these events and advancements in her strength and tenacity. A graduate of Draughon’s Business College, Lenora worked as a bookkeeper for the Deb ‘n Heir of Princeton, Kentucky; and The Adorable Child of Paducah, Kentucky, until she retired at the age of 75. She was a Southern cook without a rival, making pies that her husband declared “dangerous” since they were so good one was in danger of swallowing their tongue. A faithful friend and neighbor, Nonie enjoyed playing bridge in several clubs and was a member of Paducah First Baptist Church.

Lenora is survived by her daughter, Janet (Marshall) Shepherd of Paducah; granddaughter, Alison (Todd Terry) Brown of Murray; great-granddaughter, Ella Brown-Terry of Lexington; and niece, Vivian (John) Williams of Paducah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin Brown; twin sister, Dora Love Duncan Gray; two brothers, James Kuhn Duncan and Thuston Emil Duncan; and two sisters, Lucille Talbert and Charlene Dycus.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on May 31, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM until the service hour of 3:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah on May 31, 2024.
