One run in the top of the seventh inning was all the Marshals would need to beat Carlisle County 1-0 in the Region 1 Tournament on Monday to advance to Tuesday’s semi-final. They will meet Paducah Tilghman, who beat Ballard Memorial 8-1, at McCracken County High School at 8:00 p.m.
McCracken County beat Calloway County 5-2 and Hickman County beat Graves County 5-0. The Mustangs and Falcons will play in the 5:30 semi-final.
After a scoreless six innings, Gavin Clark led off with a single in the seventh and advanced to second base on a sacrifice hit by Ty Swoope. Jace Driver’s fielder’s choice bunt scored Clark.
Thomas Bagby picked up the win over seven innings of work, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits. Clark, Clayton Wyatt and Maddox Cope had the Marshals three hits.
Carlisle County’s Caysen Mitchell also pitched seven innings in the loss, giving up the three hits and striking out 10. The Comets season comes to a close with a record of 24-11.
