John Ritchie Jr, 81, of Paducah, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis.
John was a loving dad and grandfather who made sure his family was always taken care of. He spent many years working on the river as a tow boat captain and then as a merchant marine business owner. John was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. He had a one of a kind sense of humor and never met a stranger.
John is survived by four children, Christina (Delbert) Clevenger, Susan (Ron) Holt, George (Michelle) Ritchie, and Christopher Ritchie; three siblings, Larry Ritchie, Linda Wooley, and Paul Ritchie; six grandchildren, Jacob Ritchie, Rachel (Jeremy) Hunt, Katelyn (Annie) Gillum-Gavett, Chelsey (Kristen) Gillum-Robinson, Alex Holt, and Kameron Holt; two great-grandchildren, Ella Hunt and Judah Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding John in death is his mother, Hazel Ritchie; his dad and stepmom, John Sr. and Peggy Ritchie; four siblings, Marie Grey, Charlie Ritchie, Martha Davis, and George Ritchie; one granddaughter, Keira Holt; and one niece, Samantha Williams.
Per his wishes, no services are scheduled.
