
Tied 2-2 after the regulation seven innings, the Marshals earned a bottom of the eighth walk-off 3-2 win over Calloway County which earned the district split after falling to the Lakers 5-4 on Tuesday.
Preston Holmon led the bottom of the eighth off with a single, moved over to second base on a sacrifice by Reese Oakley before Jace Driver stepped up and brought the winning run in with a double out to left field.
Calloway County took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, scoring on a single by Cole Lockhart after brother Conner reached with a single. The Lakers went up 2-0 in the top of the sixth when Kameron Starks reached base with a walk and scored on a bunt by Zachery Akin.
The Marshals got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Oakley led off with a walk, Driver reached on an error and the run scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Maddox Cope.
They achieved the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh. Clayton Wyatt reached on an error then proceeded to steal second and then third. The throw to third from catcher Cuyler McDaniel was out of reach, giving Wyatt the green light to head to home plate and send the game into the extra inning.
Oakley pitched the first seven innings, striking out nine while giving up four hits and one earned of two runs. Driver came to the mound in relief in the extra inning and retired the first three up before his walk-off double to earn the win.

Tuesday at Calloway County, the Lakers scored all five of their runs in the 5-4 win in the first two innings. The Marshals tallied 14 hits, double the output of the Lakers, but came up short on runs in their first district game of the season.
A double by Gavin Clark scored the Marshals first run of the night in the top of the third and the senior plated the second run with a single in the top of the fifth. Two runs in the top of the sixth on a single by Alex Staples and triple hit by Reese Oakley cut the Lakers lead to 5-4. Jace Driver drew a walk in the seventh but left stranded with the final out of the game.
