Marshall County Fiscal Court will host National Day of Prayer Ceremony

Benton, KY (April 18, 2024) The Marshall County Fiscal Court will host the annual National Day of Prayer ceremony on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Veterans Plaza at Mike Miller Park at 6:00 PM.

The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

The theme for the 2024 National Day of Prayer is “Lift Up the Word, Light Up the World”. Judge Executive Kevin Spraggs will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, Carson Denfip is scheduled to sing the National Anthem and many community leaders and local pastors will lead prayer during the event.
