
Margaret Ann (McKinney) Rushing, 90 of Paducah passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Providence Pointe after a long battle with dementia.
Margaret was born on December 3, 1933, to Lee and Carrie (Myers) McKinney in Carbondale, IL. She graduated from Carbondale Community High School and was very active in the 4H organization holding offices at the local and state levels. She went on to become a skilled bookkeeper and worked as an office manager for the Illinois Fruit Growers Exchange and as secretary for Site Oil Company in St. Louis, MO.
In 1956 she married Richard (Dick) Rushing at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Carbondale, IL. They have two sons, Mike and Brent. Dick and Margaret moved several times for Dick’s job when the boys were young and Margaret, a devoted wife and mother, created warm homes in every city. She enjoyed church and school activities, watching the boys play sports and any other activities they were involved in during their school years. Dick and Margaret traveled and entertained for his company with trips to the Sugar Bowl, the Kentucky Derby and The Greenbrier being her favorites.
Margaret was an avid walker, and golfer (having achieved three holes-in-one) and was a dedicated Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox fan. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Paducah where she taught Sunday School to fifth graders for many years, volunteering on the Counting Committee and Awana child discipleship program. Spending time with her family brought her joy. She was very proud of her sons and daughter-in-law and in her later years enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Rushing of Paducah; two sons, Mike (Mendy) Rushing of Fort Collins, CO and Brent Rushing of Palos Hills, IL; two grandchildren, Katherine (Mike) Ross and Greg (Meghan) Rushing; five great-grandchildren, Camille Ross, Colette Ross, Warren Ross, MacKenzie Rushing, and William Rushing; seven sisters, Frances Vaughn, Mary Marolda, Janet (Morris) McDaniel, Grace Herring, Karen (Gary) Steele, Donna (David) Stull and Debbie (Danny) Piquard; one brother, Richard (Lois) McKinney; two sisters-in-law, Sarah McKinney and Juanita Kunce; a brother-in-law, Ralph Habbe and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bonnie Waller and Norma Habbe; two brothers, Clarence McKinney and George McKinney; three half-brothers, Delbert McKinney, Robert McKinney and Harold McKinney; a half-sister, Ruth Sellers; six brothers-in-law, Gene Rushing, George Kunce, Ron Herring, Frank Marolda, Venus Vaughn and Don Waller and two sisters-in-law, Geri Rushing and Dee McKinney.
A memorial service commemorating the life of Margaret will be at 12:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2024, at the First Baptist Church Paducah with Rev. Russ Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024, at First Baptist Church Paducah. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of local arrangements.
