
On Sunday March 17th, 2024 at approximately 5:30pm Calloway County, KY 911 Communications Center dispatched CCFR to the 2600 block of KY 94 East for a structure fire with the residents still inside the structure. CCFR was also advised of ammunition going off inside the residence caused by the fire. Upon arrival of our first units the fire could be seen coming out the front window of the house. All residents were able to be safely evacuated from the structure. Murray Calloway Co. Ambulance was on scene to check out the residents and did transport one person to the hospital for burns. As our trucks started to arrive on scene, firefighters were able to enter the structure to begin fighting the fire inside the living room area of the house. The fire was able to be mostly contained to the living room and kitchen areas of the house. After extinguishing the fire CCFR spoke with the homeowner who said the fire started when a pan of grease caught fire while cooking.
CCFR responded with 1 pumper, 7 tankers, 2 support trucks and 1 command vehice with more than 20 firefighters on scene. CCFR was also assisted on scene by Calloway County, KY Sheriff’s Office, Murray-Calloway County EMS, West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative and the American Red Cross.
