Signals along KY 80, KY 58, and KY 121

PADUCAH, Ky. (February 28, 2024)  Contractors for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) are continuing efforts to reconstruct and restore traffic signals in downtown Mayfield that were destroyed by the December 2021 tornado.

The following signals are scheduled to become fully operational on Tuesday morning, March 5:

  • KY 80-Business/West Broadway at 9th Street
  • KY 58/East Broadway at KY 121-Business/6th Street
  • KY 121-Business/South 6th Street at East South Street
  • KY 121/South 6th Street at East Water Street

The signals have been in red flash mode to allow drivers to become reacquainted with the signals and their locations.  The signals are expected to go into full green-yellow-red mode around 10 a.m., Tuesday.

Motorists should be alert for changes in traffic flow that will be created when the signals are fully activated.

Many of the intersections in downtown Mayfield have functioned as ALL-Way Stops since traffic signal control systems and supports were destroyed by the December 2021 tornado.  Supply line issues caused a number of delays as electrical crews worked to replace the signals.
