John Wayne Denson, 61, originally of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Parkview Nursing Home in Paducah. John was a proud graduate of JAMP Special Education in Karnak, Illinois. He was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and the Open Bible Life Group. John was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and later in life the Louisville Cardinals. He loved playing cards, riding go-carts, and spending time with his family. John was always smiling, lit up every room where he was present, and was loved by every person who had the pleasure of meeting him. John is survived by his brothers, Chuck Denson and wife, Rhonda of Paducah and Bill Denson and wife, Debra of Katy, Texas; nephews, Eric Denson and wife, Shannon of Edwardsville, Illinois, Chad Denson and wife, Lindsey of Louisville, Chase Denson and wife, Whitney of Paducah, Phillip Patterson and wife, Paige, and Nicholas Denson of Katy, Texas; niece, Jacqueline Denson of Katy, Texas; great-nieces, Hallie Denson of Paducah, Loretta Denson of Louisville, MaKenzie Patterson, Lilah Patterson, Oakley Patterson, of Katy, Texas and Katie Denson, Ali Denson of Edwardsville, Illinois. Great-nephews, Gus Denson of Louisville, Ty Denson of Paducah, Alex Naeger of Edwardsville, IL and Phillip Patterson, Jr. of Katy, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles (Jack) Denson, his mother, Evelyn Elizabeth Denson, his nephew, Jason Denson, and his faithful K-9 companions, Chip and Charlie. John’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to his nurses and caregivers at Parkview Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah with Virgil Cox officiating. Burial will follow the service at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held before the service from 11 am until 1 pm on Friday, at the funeral home.
