John Bill Calhoun, age 56, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at his home.
He was born October 13, 1967, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to John William and Dolores (Bridges) Calhoun.
A 1985 graduate of Trigg County High School, John Bill worked for 33 years as a journeyman electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 816 in Paducah, Kentucky, where to his workmates, he was known as “Big John”.
John Bill was passionate for the outdoors, whether it was hunting or riding his four-wheeler. Sometimes he just loved to sit outside and fool with his goats and chicken and pigeons. He enjoyed attending poultry shows where he was able to see the many exotic breeds of chickens. He also enjoyed going to the Fairview Auctions if for nothing more than to look at the animals while his wife Missy spent time perusing the antiques. A good and loyal friend, John Bill loved spending time with his longtime buddies, and they never had less than a good time laughing and enjoying each other’s company. His life was a testament to his unwavering dedication and love for his family, his “girls” and his grandchildren, who meant the world to their “Grandpa”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harvey “Sonny” Gray.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Missy Gray Calhoun; two daughters, Lesley (Kevin) Hampton and Bayley (Lukas) Berkley, both of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Dixon and Denver Hampton and Paislee Berkley; his sister, Teresa (Freddy) Smith of Cadiz; nephew Matthew Smith, niece Lynzie (Michael) Mackey, along with their children, Avery and Landon Mackey; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Gray; and aunts, Jean Calhoun, Wanda Calhoun, and Patsi (Will) Gregory.
