
Etta Simmons Yates, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Lourdes Hospital Emergency Room in Paducah, Kentucky.
Etta was born in McCracken County on September 2, 1933 to Lon and Lois Simmons. She graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1952.
She and husband Albert were married at Olivet Baptist Church on October 2, 1965 by Pastor Robert Dunn. Etta was a Chistian and a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
She was employed as a checker at Kroger for several years and awarded “checker of the year” several times. She left Kroger and began work in the banking industry for 20 years, before leaving to begin employment with Suburban Propane Gas Company, where she retired after 20 years of service.
She was married for 58 years to Albert Lee Yates. Etta and Albert resided in Paducah throughout their marriage.
Etta is survived by her husband, Albert Yates; her daughter, Diane Lindley; her grandson, Greg Lindley; her great granddaughter, Samantha Lindley; several nieces and nephews.
Etta was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Lois Helm Simmons; her sisters, Mary Kaletch, Irene Thompson, Sue Burpo, Doris Simmons and Mildred Jones; her brothers, Ray Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Paul Simmons and Howard Simmons; her granndson, David Lindley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Chris Prescott and Rev. Jason Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Brook Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the funeral home.
