Ida Jo (McDougal) Walker, 87 of Murray, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Spring Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Murray, KY.
Ida was born on August 19, 1936, to the late James Castle and late Ida Evelna (Barrett) McDougal. She never met a stranger and was a friend to many. She devoted numerous years to comforting the elderly with her gentle and warm conversations, bringing solace to those she touched. She was dedicated to supporting her family, investing many years of hard work both at Murray State University and the Hih Burger Restaurant. Ida Jo Walker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was a cherished member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, Murray, KY.
Ida Jo was a loving and devoted wife for over 67 years, to Franklin D. Walker, whom she married on November 6, 1956. She is survived by two daughters, Anna Walker and Sherry Free (Mark). She also leaves behind five grandsons, Christopher Cox, JC Cox, Craig Free (Marlene), Matthew Free (Chelsea), and Brian Free (Dallas); as well as five great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters; sisters, Janella Fox (Ronnie) of Murray, KY and Anita Field of Indianapolis, IN.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by two sisters, IIona McDougal and Polly McDougal Hooks, her granddaughter, Zianna Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY with Bro. Brandon Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Murray, KY.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, January 11, 2024, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4th St., Murray, KY 42071.
