He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, a member of Carpenters Local # 357, a retired carpenter and superintendent for Morsey Inc.
Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam Elliott Bridges; two daughters, Amanda Beth (John) Freeman of Martin, TN and Misty Bridges of Benton, KY; one sister, Bonnie (Donald) Hargrove of Mayfield, KY; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bridges of Mayfield, KY; four grandchildren, Melissa (Brian) Collier, Michael (Abbi) Bridges, Elliott Freeman and Karaline Freeman; and three great grandchildren, Anna Collier, Addy Collier and Willa Bridges.
He was preceded in death by one son, Chris Gaylon Bridges; four sisters, Lela Rogers, Naomi Dowdy, Mary Thorpe and June Perkins; and his parents, Tom and Lona Carter Bridges.
Funeral services for Mr. Gaylon Bridges will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Interment will follow at Dowdy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Perkins, Mark Perkins, Sean Michael Perkins, Timmy Perkins, Cody Perkins, Gary Thorpe, Joe Dowdy and Trent Dowdy. Honorary pallbearers will be John Robert Freeman, Brian Collier and Michael Bridges.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the funeral home.
