As we approach the holiday season, I extend warm wishes to each of you and your families—a heartfelt Merry Christmas. During your busy schedules, I encourage you to carve out moments for family and to reflect on the season’s true reason.
As we gather around the dinner table or Christmas tree to create memories with family and friends or to worship with our congregation, remember those who work during the holidays. Extend gratitude and kindness for our military service members at home or abroad—away from their loved ones—and our first responders covering the shifts many of us will be fortunate to be home during. Also, express kindness to those within retail as you wrap up your holiday shopping.
With 2024 just around the corner, it’s hard to believe how swiftly time has passed since the whirlwind of Thanksgiving. Christmas is upon us, evident in the twinkling lights on trees, the glow of candles in windows, and the anticipation in children writing their wish lists to Santa.
Here in Kentucky, Christmas unfolds with a unique blend of Southern charm. Our hometowns come alive with festive decorations, and families unite, merging the warmth of shared moments with the essence of faith. This season is synonymous with giving, presenting a prime opportunity for communities to support those less fortunate.
Community holds a special place in Kentucky, and our acts of kindness define the holiday spirit. Neighbors exchange cookies, and families extend helping hands to those in need, embodying the central essence of the Christian faith. I urge you to contribute to this tradition by assisting those less fortunate—whether by volunteering as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, participating in an Angel Tree program, or supporting other meaningful causes throughout our great state.
I am grateful for the privilege of serving as your Senator. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As we partake in church services, family dinners, and cherished traditions, let’s remember that this season is where faith, family and tradition converge, creating a distinctly Bluegrass Christmas atmosphere.
