Marshall County names Bryan Smothers boys’ soccer head coach

Marshall County High School Boys Soccer enters into a new era as Bryan Smothers has been hired to be the head coach.

Coach Smothers has served as an assistant for the Marshals for the past three seasons. During this time, the Marshals have won three straight regular season district championships, reaching the regional finals in all three seasons.

Coach Smothers is a Marshall County boys soccer alum, playing for the Marshals from 2000-2003 seasons. Following his high school career, Smothers played for four years at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn., earning the title of captain his senior year. He currently holds a US Soccer “C” License, currently embarking on the “B”.

Smothers is the current president of the Marshall County Soccer Association and coaches his daughter’s Dynamo U-10 team.

“My passion and hobby is soccer,” Smothers said. “Marshall County is a great tradition for soccer with players and coaches. The past three coaches have been former players. You can look around the state and region and see how many former players are coaches. We want to continue that tradition.
