Marshals tied for fifth after round one of the State Golf Championship

DJ Morris finished with a 2-over par 74 to lead the Marshals after Friday’s first round of the KHSAA Boys’ State Golf Championship at Bowling Green Country Club.

Marshall County’s boys golf team is playing today and Saturday at the KHSAA Boys’ State Golf Championship at Bowling Green Country Club. The team finished today’s first round tied for fifth with George Rogers Clark and Greenwood with a score of 318 (+30).

Madison Central leads after the first round with an impressive 295 (+7), seven strokes ahead of South Oldham in second place.

DJ Morris shot the low round of the day for the Marshals. Morris finished with a 2-over par 74 and is tied for 11th. Ryan Stokes is tied for 16th with a 3-over par 75. Paxton Carter carded an 11-over par 83 and is tied for 62nd. Nolan Hurst and Andy Jones are both tied for 74th with a score of 86.

Brady Smith of Christian Academy-Louisville leads after the first day after shooting a blistering 7-under 65. Just two strokes back is Thomas Warren of Madison Central. Four players shot under par rounds on day one.
