
Calvert City, KY (October 02, 2023) – On September 19, 2023 the Calvert City Police Department responded to a dog bite incident in the area of East 10th Avenue and Dogwood Street. The caller advised that his 10-year old son was riding a scooter in the area and was bitten on the left arm by a gray dog with a white face, that appeared to be a “doodle” type of dog. Marshall County Animal Control responded to the scene. It was determined that the dog belongs to Shiana Coomer of Calvert City. She advised that she lets the dog run loose because it hasn’t caused any issues. She admitted that the dog is approximately 1.5 years old and has never seen a veterinarian nor been vaccinated against rabies. Marshall County Animal Control took possession of the dog to be quarantined for 10 days per Kentucky State Law. The Marshall County Health Department was also notified of the incident. Charges were submitted to the Marshall County Attorney’s Office for review. On September 25, 2023 the Calvert City Police Department served a Criminal Summons to Shiana Coomer, 29, for harboring a vicious animal and dogs to be vaccinated against rabies.
On September 25, 2023 an officer observed a motorcycle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed on US 62. Radar confirmed that the motorcycle was traveling at 68 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer performed a traffic stop on the motorcycle. Upon further investigation, Erik F. Swan, 45, of Paducah was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol 1st offense. He was also charged with speeding 23 mph over limit, no operators-moped license, failure to produce insurance card, no other state registration receipt, and no registration plates.
On September 29, 2023 Titan Johnathon Gray, 44, of Greenfield, Ohio walked into the Calvert City Police Department to turn himself in. He advised that he was wanted out of Ohio and that he had just drank a bottle of whiskey in the parking lot. While speaking with an officer, Mr. Gray was unable to balance himself, was slurring his words, and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. It was determined that he was manifestly under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place. A warrant check of Mr. Gray had a negative result.
On September 30, 2023 an officer observed a vehicle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed on US 62. Radar confirmed that the vehicle was traveling at 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contact with the operator of the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was detected. The operator advised that he had purchased some marijuana in Metropolis, Illinois. Brayden Dale Wittenborn, 21, of Kuttawa was charged with speeding 17 mph over limit, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
