Marshals fall 4-1 to Madisonville-North Hopkins

Sophomore Colton Snyder scored the Marshals lone goal in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins.

Marshall County has won the last six soccer matches against Madisonville-North Hopkins, but a very talented Maroons team rolled into Colburn Stadium on Tuesday to change that trend. The Maroons came into the game with a record of 7-2, their only losses to two top teams in the state in St. Xavier and Daviess County.

Madisonville-North Hopkins made quick work of getting points on the board, scoring two goals in the first five and a half minutes. The first by junior Dru Lile and the second goal was scored by junior Eli Redpath.

Marshall County sophomore Colton Snyder scored to cut the Maroons lead in half with an assist from Isaac Reynolds. Senior Sam Dodds scored once more for Madisonville-North Hopkins for a 3-1 halftime lead.

Madisonville-North Hopkins sealed the win with a fourth goal in the second half by Redpath, who’s currently the sixth ranked scorer in the state.

The Marshals took 10 shots in the game with six on goal. The Maroons, also with six on goal and a total of nine shots taken.

Marshals’ goalkeeper Steven Claborn had seven saves, Hunter Gamblin had five saves for the Maroons.

The Marshals will travel to play Ohio County (5-4-1) on Thursday then face the two teams that beat Madisonville-North Hopkins. They will play St. Xavier (7-1) at 11:00 a.m. and Daviess County (8-1) at 5:00 in the Purples Classic in Bowling Green.
