The Lady Marshals earned an important district win over Murray on Wednesday in a game rescheduled from Tuesday in order to play as late as possible due to the extreme heat index. The win was their 14th straight over the Lady Tigers going back to their second game against Murray in the 2018 season.
After three free kick opportunities in the first 10 minutes, the Lady Marshals found the net on an unassisted goal by Presley Gallimore just under 12 minutes in.
The Lady Marshals controlled possession the majority of the first half, taking 10 shots with five of those on goal compared to three for Murray with two on goal and held onto the 1-0 lead at halftime.
Many shots for the Lady Marshals early on in the second half began with one by Gallimore that hit off the post. Anna Robertson took a shot moments later and Macy Scott with another one that was just wide right.
Efforts finally paid off when Zoe Maxlow found Robertson with nine minutes remaining to give the Lady Marshals a 2-0 lead that held until the final whistle.
The win puts the Lady Marshals on top of the District 2 standings after a first round of wins over all district opponents.
Next up for the Lady Marshals (5-1-1) is a game on Saturday at North Oldham (1-3-2) and they will take on Mercy (2-3-1) on Sunday.
