Closure of KY 348/Symsonia Hwy in Western Marshall County starts Monday, June 12

Cross drain replacement between Benton and Symsonia to take about 3 days

PADUCAH, Ky. (June 6, 2023)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close a section of KY 348/Symsonia Highway between Benton and Symsonia in western Marshall County starting Monday, June 12, 2023.

KY 348/Symsonia Highway will be closed at mile point 5.5 to allow a deep cross drain to be replaced.  The aging tile has a number of issues that have contributed to roadway flooding at the site in recent years.

This closure is along KY 348 between KY 1490/Elva Road and KY 2606/Jackson School Road.  It is about 3/10ths of a mile west of KY 2606/Jackson School Road.

KY 348/Symsonia Highway will close at this site promptly at 6:30 a.m., CDT, on Monday.  It is expected to remain closed until sometime Wednesday afternoon, June 14.

There will be no marked detour.  The suggested self-detour is via KY 1949/Wadesboro Rd, KY 408/Oak Level Road, and KY 2606/Jackson School Road.

Message boards have been placed along KY 348 to alert motorists to this planned 3-day closure at Marshall County mile point 5.5.

KYTC District 1 and the Marshall County Highway Maintenance Crew will attempt to provide timely notice should the project be completed earlier than expected.

More than 2,300 vehicles travel this section of KY 348 between Benton and Symsonia in an average day.
