
Carmen McElwain Sizemore, 76, of Aurora, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital.
Carmen was born in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky on September 4, 1946 to the late Kara McElwain and Odessa Sawyers McElwain. She worked as a bookkeeper for her dad and uncles business, Mack & Mack Marine before becoming a homemaker. Carmen was very artistic and known for her face paintings at local festivals including the Hummingbird festival at LBL and the Aurora Country festival. She was involved in the Girl Scouts, enjoyed reading and writing poetry and was always willing to help anyone in need. Carmen was a member of Aurora Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School class and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Women’s Missionary Union.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James “Jim” H. Sizemore, Sr.; her son, James “Jimmie” H. Sizemore, Jr. of Paducah; three daughters, Kara Joy Sizemore of Aurora, Virginia “Jenni” Louise Sizemore of Aurora and Rebecca “Joe Joe” Harrington, husband Michael of Strasbourg, France; one brother, Keith McElwain of Aurora; two grandchildren, Sawyer Timothy Harrington and Elsie Joy Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Hungerford and Michael Harrington officiating. Interment will follow at Union Ridge Cemetery in Aurora, KY.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home.
