Marshals celebrate seniors before Thursday’s game

Baseball seniors joined by their parents were recognized before Thursday’s game. Seniors (L-R) Ethan Landis, Chase Hayden, Carter Mckinney, Tyler Knisley and Wilson Shadowen.

Marshall County baseball celebrated five seniors before Thursday’s game against Hickman County. A senior night win fell out of their grasp after a 1-0 lead was wiped out by Hickman County who scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings to win 2-1.

Ethan Landis reached on an error in the bottom of the first, Alex Staples hit a double and they loaded the bases when Chase Hayden was hit by a pitch. Landis scored on a wild pitch to give the Marshals the 1-0 lead that held up until the Falcons tied it up in the fourth, scoring on a double by Tyler Hoff.

The go-ahead run by Hickman County in the top of the fifth came on a leadoff home run by Coleson Naranjo over the left field fence.

The Marshals left the bases loaded with the third out in the bottom of the fifth in their last opportunity to score runs.

Eli Prince went the distance for the Falcons, allowing one run on two hits and striking out five. The loss went to Carter McKinney with 10 strike outs, giving up two runs on five hits.

Senior Night 2023


On Tuesday, Marshall County beat Carlisle County 3-1.

The Comets scored one run in the third inning on a lead-off home run by Koltyn Perez. The Marshals tied it 1-1 in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice by Alex Staples that scored Ethan Landis.

Still tied at the end of regulation, the game went into the eighth inning and the Marshals put up two runs, both scored on errors by Carlisle County. Pinch runner Hunter Reavis scored the first after advancing to second on a wild pitch and third on an error. Kash Chiles scored the second run of inning on an error after reaching on an error and advancing to third on a sacrifice by Carter McKinney.
