Marshals first, Lady Marshals second at Monday’s home track and field meet

Walker Jones (right) and Daniel Walker both placed in the top 10 of the 1600 meters. Jones crossed in ninth with a time of 5:01.99 and Walker in 10th with 5:09.13.

Marshall County track and field hosted a meet on Monday, originally slated as the Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays that were rescheduled due to weather from last Friday. Calloway County girls and the Marshall County boys took the teams wins in the field of nine teams. Marshall County girls placed second.

The Lady Marshals recorded 15 top five finishes and among those, four wins. Addison Lyles won the 800 meters, Rylee Thompson the long jump, Georgia Hall in discus and Bailey Allred in shot put.

The Marshals had 24 top five finishes and they had five first place finishes. Taking the top spot in running events was Zander Maxlow in the 100 meters, Tyler Orlandi in the 200 meters, Preston Lamb in the 400 meters and the 4 x 400 meter relay. In field events, Deegan Croley won the shot put.

Allie Burkeen (center) placed fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 3.64.

Trigg County’s Fatu Crain won the girls 200 and 400 meter dashes and placed second in the 100 behind Jasline English of Paducah Tilghman. Murray’s Layla Green won the 100 meter hurdles and placed second in the 300 meter hurdles behind Paducah Tilghman’s Diamond Gray. Alec Rogers of Calloway County took the win in the high jump and pole vault was won by Sayde Lowe, also from Calloway County.

Among top results on the boy’s side, Calloway County’s Landon McCartney won the 800 meters and Daniel Puckett the 1600 meters. Joessiah Reyes of Calloway County won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdle events. Murray’s Acey Stricklin won the high jump, Buxton Harrison of Calloway County won pole vault and Janyas Grubbs of Paducah Tilghman won the long jump. Griffin McCoy of University Heights took the triple jump win and Nicholas Fox of Paducah Tilghman won discus.

Jack Johnson placed second in the pole vault with 10-06.

Alexander Holman recorded three top five finishes at Monday’s meet. He placed second in the 110 high hurdles, second in triple jump and third in the long jump.
