Lady Marshals drop district game to Calloway County

Allicen Harris connecting for a hit in the first game this season against Calloway County. Harris hit two doubles in Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to the Laker Lakers.

The Lady Marshals moved to 2-2 in 4th District play after losing their second game to the Calloway County Lady Lakers on Tuesday. Calloway County won the first meeting 4-3 in the eighth inning and they took Tuesday’s win by one run at 3-2.

The Lady Marshals led 2-0 after two innings, scoring a run in the top of the first on a single by Gracelyn Darnall. The second run in the top of the second came on a single by Marin Oakley. Calloway County tied the game in the bottom of the third, driving in runs on a double by Ashlynn Bazzell and single from Emerson Grogan.

The game remained tied at 2-2 until the bottom of the sixth when the Lady Lakers scored the go-ahead run when Emily French bunted into a fielder’s choice and an error allowed Bazzell time to cross home plate.

Allicen Harris took the loss, but the sophomore pitched 13 strikeouts, gave up six hits and led at the plate with a couple of doubles. Hailee Jones picked up the win for Calloway County. The freshman allowed six hits and had four strikeouts.

They will host McCracken County (15-3) tonight in a 6:00 game. The Lady Mustangs suffered their third loss of the season on Tuesday to Madisonville-North Hopkins 7-6.
