Lady Marshals fall 7-4 to Paducah Tilghman

Madyson Morton makes the tag on Paducah Tilghman’s Reagan Hartman, who was caught between bases, for the third out in the top of the first inning.

Marshall County’s Lady Marshals lost 7-4 to Paducah Tilghman at home on Monday. A nice start by the Blue Tornado to open the game with two runs in their first at-bat was equaled by the Lady Marshals in the bottom of the second to tie it up at 2-2. Both teams scored a run in the third to keep the game knotted up at 3-3 before Tilghman pulled away with four more runs to earn the win on 12 hits and improve to 8-5.

Audreya White led the game off with a triple and she was brought across the plate on a single by Anistyn Thomas. Thomas scored on a double off the bat of Reagan Hartman to kick off a 2-0 lead for Paducah Tilghman.

The 2-2 tie for the Lady Marshals in the bottom of the second came on two outs. A walk by Chevelle Henson and single by Macy McLeod put the two baserunners on and they were brought in on a double by Madyson Morton.

The throw to Marshall County’s Chevelle Henson at third was in time for the tag on Paducah Tilghman’s Adrienne Romaine in the top of the first inning.

Paducah Tilghman went up 3-2 in the top of the third but it was equaled by the Lady Marshals with a run in the bottom of the inning. Merriel Jackson led off with a single and Emma Reynolds, running for Jackson, scored on an error.

The Blue Tornado took the lead in the top of the fourth and added another run in the top of the fifth, both coming on two outs. The Lady Marshals threatened in the bottom of the fifth but left two  stranded on base.

Paducah Tilghman extended their lead to 6-3 in the top of the seventh on a triple by Thomas and she scored their final run on an RBI ground out by Trinity Parrish.

Vasseur reached on an error and Allicen Harris hit a single to get runners on in the bottom of the seventh for the Lady Marshals. Gracelyn Darnall hit a single that brought one run in but two were left stranded with the final out of the night.

Mia Bobbitt pitched six and a third innings to earn the win for Paducah Tilghman.

The 7-7 Lady Marshals will play at Graves County (5-4) on Thursday at 5:30.
