Large tree to be removed from right-of-way near Line Street intersection
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 10, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Pennyrile Electric plan a daytime closure of U.S. 68-Business/Main Street in Cadiz on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
A large tree damaged during recent high winds is threatening power lines and vehicles along U.S. 68-Business/Main Street at Trigg County mile point 2.367 immediately east of the Line Street intersection. To facilitate removal of the tree, U.S. 68-Business will be closed between Line Street and Midway Street. This is in the 100 Block of Main Street east of the Cadiz downtown business district.
U.S. 68-Business/Main Street is expected to close at this site promptly at 8:30 a.m., CDT, after the morning school bus run. The roadway at this site is expected to reopen to traffic around 2:30 p.m., Wednesday.
This daytime closure of U.S. 68-Business is just west of the Trigg County School Complex.
There will be no marked detour. Motorists who wish to access downtown Cadiz and trucks making deliveries in the downtown area should detour via U.S. 68 and KY 139/South Road to avoid traffic congestion near the closure.
Local access for property owners will be maintained from the east end of U.S. 68-Business.
KYTC District 1 and Pennyrile Electric will attempt to provide timely notice should this work be completed earlier than expected.
