Girl Scout Day Returns to Woodlands Nature Station

Woodlands Nature Station Naturalist Arrianne Byrum leads a program at a past Girl Scout Day event.

Land Between the Lakes, Ky/Tenn. – March 14, 2023 – Woodlands Nature Station will host Girl Scout Day on Saturday, March 25 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The event’s Camping theme will feature a guided hike, games, hands-on activities, and more to help Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes earn their Camper badge requirements.

“We will be learning all about the adventures of camping and hiking in the great outdoors for this year’s Girl Scout Day,” said Vanessa Sivils, naturalist at Woodlands Nature Station. “Begin your quest as a safe camper by learning the different ways to protect nature, practicing your survival skills, embarking on a guided trek with a naturalist, and trying your hand at campfire cooking!
Badge requirements will be completed through a combination of scheduled programs and a series of activity stations that scouts can visit throughout the day. For a complete schedule of activities, check the Nature Station event calendar on the official Land Between the Lakes website: www.landbetweenthelakes.us/seendo/attractions/nature-station/. Scouts should plan to spend at least 3 hours to complete all activities and be prepared to be outdoors. Troops and families are welcome to pack lunches and make a day of the event.
Girl Scouts can attend with their troop or individually with a parent and are encouraged to bring friends. Everyone is invited to participate in the event’s programs and activities. Senior and Ambassador Scouts are encouraged to volunteer and can contact Nickolaus Willis for Girl Scout Day volunteer opportunities: nwillis@friendsoflbl.org.
Registration is not required. General admission covers all programs and activities: $7 ages 18 and up, $5 ages 5-17, free for ages 4 and under. Fourth grade students can get their family into the event for free by obtaining their free Every Kid in a Park pass online: https://everykidinapark.gov.
