  1. An investigation involving a Murray man began on Thursday evening, January 26, 2023, after Kentucky State Police (KSP) Dispatch received a third-party complaint alleging this man had made multiple threatening statements about the safety of the Lyon County Middle School while he was at work in Murray.

Deputies and KSP Troopers, along with Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) personnel began investigating the threats and speaking with witnesses and co-workers of this man.  As evidence was being collected in Calloway County, the man was located at a residence in Eddyville, only a few blocks away from the Lyon County School campus.

Sheriff’s Deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Eddyville Police Department made contact with the man at the Eddyville home.  Several firearms, firearms components, and various types of ammunition were located in the man’s possession and subsequently taken into evidence.

Following an interview, the man was transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.  Once cleared, he was released from the facility back into the community, in the early morning hours of Friday, January 27, 2023.

Jester (30), of Murray, on Magnolia Street in Eddyville.  Jester was served with a Calloway County Complaint Warrant charging him with two counts of Terroristic Threatening-2nd Degree (Class D Felony).

Jester is alleged to have threatened to get a gun and go to the Lyon County Middle School to shoot a student and then shoot up the school.  In addition, he also reportedly stated he was going to blow up the school; thus, the reason for the two counts charging him with terroristic threatening.

Jester was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.  The investigation is continuing by Calloway County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Doss and Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Adams.  The two Sheriff’s Offices were assisted by the ATF – Paducah Satellite Office, the Kentucky State Police Post 1, the Eddyville Police Department, the Western Kentucky Violent Crimes Task Force, the 42nd Judicial Circuit Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, the 56th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, and the Lyon County School District.
